Our Team

As a graduate of commerce- finance option and a certified accountant, Stephanie has years of experience working in the finance sector. This has seen her start ‘Little Gurus” a financial literacy company that has been equipping and mentoring young adults and children since 2018. She spreads this passion to menstrual health by actively taking part in ending period poverty through organizing successful fundraisers. Being a strong believer of ‘knowledge is power’ she is inquisitive and seeks to learn as much as she can in this space and beyond consequently passing it forward.

If I was a fruit I would be an orange because of its great benefit of vitamin C which makes the skin glow. Our organization’s name calls us to be BOLD and for me part of this is loving myself and glowing as a woman, even during my periods, unapologetically!

Gloria is a graduate of biotechnology with a keen interest in using scientific interventions in industrial processes. She commits her time at BPI by working in the finance office and as a facilitator. Gloria champions for menstrual health because for a lot of young girls the onset of menstruation is a horrific time due to lack of awareness about the changes happening in their bodies. Likewise, she believes that her 13-year-old self would be much happier had she been informed beyond the testable science classes.

Just like Albert Einstein, Joan Ousa believes that a life lived for others is worthwhile. She has served as a communications director in various institutions and believes it is the department that anchors the organization. Her passion in service to humanity drives her goals at BPI and led her to initiate the “Paddie Bank” project where menstrual & hygiene products are collected and distributed to girls. She believes that menstruation should not be a hush-closed door conversation.

“If I was a fruit, I would be a banana because I am the smiling machine of the team. I light up any room with my smile.”

We call her ‘conman’ because of her career as a Construction Manager; a space less occupied by women. Beryl is easily the iron lady as well as the funniest of the team. She immaculately serves as a programs director and is behind the entire year’s calendar planning, ensuring everything is in place in good time. She loves seeing women occupying space, being confident and authentic. This had led to her bid to create safe spaces for women to experience this beautiful process.

Milka fondly referred to as MJ is the founder and lead of Bold Phase Initiative. She also doubles in the BPI communication department. MJ’s academic background in media and communication influences her belief in the power of communication in positive development in the community. Her dream is to see BPI achieve its 5-year goal plan and beyond- contributing in the efforts to realize a world where periods are seen as a normal occurrence just as a headache by 2030.

Lavender is effortlessly cool and so easy to be around; it is hard to tell she is the baby of the team! Her coolness translates to the execution of her work, as she handles everything with such great composure. This makes her training sessions popular with the audience. Serving in the programs department and managing the BPI Community, she ensures our volunteers and friends are well engaged with our calendar throughout the year.

As a professional academic educator, Diana naturally gravitates towards empowering the society through education. As the digital media manager of BPI, Diana manages and creates educational content across the social media platforms, constantly engaging the audience. She believes that information on female reproductive health and anatomy are neglected and over-sexualized, resulting in stigma. BPI is about being unapologetically loud and having open conversations around many taboo topics, and she shares in this vision.

We often refer to Chris as “chairman” as he is the only gentleman in the executive team. He leads the boys’ sessions during our sessions, facilitating them through MHM, adolescence, hygiene and man talk. As the logistics officer, Chris ensures that every little aspect of our events are taken into consideration and runs smoothly. He believes every man should be involved in menstrual health issues to equip them to be better informed and responsible actors in the community.

Her background in medicine informs the interest she has in ensuring young girls and women receive the correct health information they need, especially in matters of reproduction. This expert knowledge enables BPI to conduct informed and well researched sessions. Aside from preventive medicine, Mercy is passionate about self-awareness. She believes it builds more self-confidence, and makes us understand things from many perspectives, freeing us from assumptions and biases. This is vital to ending stigma in conversations like menstruation and sexual health in our communities.

Lindsey’s journey in global public health work began nearly 15 years ago at the foot of her most beloved mountain in Kasigau, Kenya. Since this time, Lindsey has developed a deep passion for supporting the sexual and reproductive health of adolescent girls and young women, working closely with partners in Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Cameroon, and Malawi to improve uptake of services such as prenatal care, family planning, and routine HIV and STI testing and treatment. Lindsey is now excited to support BPI in their mission to increase access to information about menstrual hygiene management for women in Kenya and beyond.
